In August, we asked you to send us videos about how your business uses Wish Local to boost sales and gain new customers. We were blown away by the outpouring of creative videos that you sent our way! Each week we announced one video winner, and that store was awarded a cool $1000 in Wish Cash.

Wish Local is enormously proud of the diverse community of small business owners that make up our program. As such, we are wholeheartedly committed to dismantling the systemic racism that has stood in the way of Black business owners and their entrepreneurial dreams. Wish has dedicated a $2M fund to offer 4,000 Black-owned Wish Local stores financial support to grow and nurture their businesses. Read on to learn if you’re eligible, and how you can apply.
What is the Wish Local Empowerment Program?
The Wish Local Empowerment Program is a fund that offers monetary supportgrants to Black-owned small businesses. Selected recipients will receive amounts from $500 – $2000.
Am I eligible?
In order to receive funds, you must meet all of the following criteria:
You are a Black small business owner
You are 18 years or older
You have a brick-and-mortar store that is located in the United States
Your store has 20 or fewer employees
Your store earns an average annual revenue under $1M
If selected for the program, you must join Wish Local
How can the money be used?
There are no rules or requirements on how to allocate the funds. We suggest you use the monetary support to:
Applications are due August, 31 2020. Our committee will then review applications and select which stores will receive funds and how much those stores will receive.

It’s tough to know when the right time to reopen your store might be. Depending on where you are in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic may be subsiding or it might be back on the rise. Luckily, Wish Local is providing our participants with an option that allows you to earn cash, sell your own products, and protect your store and employees from contagion.
With Wish Local Delivery, you earn money by delivering Wish packages to shoppers in your area. If you opt in to both Wish Local Delivery and our Sell on Wish program, you can upload your store’s own merchandise to the Wish app for free. You then get paid to deliver your goods to customers. You read that right! You keep 100% of the sales you make and get paid to deliver too!
Here’s how it works:
Offer your items for delivery. You can deliver your own items by listing them on Sell On Wish. You keep 100% of your inventory sales and get paid to deliver it!
Deliver with ease. To complete the delivery process, simply upload a photo of the spot where you’ve delivered the package. Then you’re done!
Flexible delivery schedule. Choose anytime within the two-day delivery window to complete your deliveries.
Set your own hours. You can opt-out anytime in the app. When you’re ready to restart your foot traffic you can fully reopen for pickups in the Wish Local App.

Listing your store’s products on Sell on Wish is now easier than ever. We’ve added a barcode scanner so you can upload merchandise to the Wish app in less than 30 seconds. It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
Go to the “Sell” tab on the bottom menu of the Wish Local app. Click “Scan a Barcode.”
Use your phone’s camera to scan the product’s original barcode.
Verify the product information.
You’re all done! With our new barcode scanner, you can upload products quickly and move on to the rest of your to-do list. Happy Selling!

Wish Local is proud to offer Curbside Pickup to all participating store locations. As the pandemic continues, shoppers are looking for the safest ways to pick up their purchases from retail stores. Curbside Pickup is a great way to offer low-contact purchase retrieval to your loyal customers. It also limits traffic inside your business, which protects both you and your store. Here’s how it works.
Enable Curbside Pickup
Click “Account” on the bottom menu bar of the Wish Local app.
Choose “Curbside Pickup.”
Toggle button to the on position.
Confirm your phone number, and you’re done!
Wait for customer contact
After a customer purchases one of your store’s products through Sell on Wish, they will be given a QR code and your contact information. When the customer arrives at your store, they will either call or text that they’ve arrived.
Deliver the order
Once the customer has arrived, you can scan their QR code, retrieve their package, and deliver it curbside.
That’s all there is to it! Curbside Pickup keeps your sales high and your exposure to germs low. What’s not to love?
We are excited to announce that Wish Local Delivery is now live! This new program is the ultimate business companion to Sell on Wish. Get your products in the hands of more shoppers than ever before, and earn $4 for every delivery you make. Here’s how it works.
Sell a product!
As a Wish Local participating location, you can upload your store’s inventory with Sell on Wish. Previously, when you made a sale, the customer would retrieve their purchase from your store. Now you have the opportunity to deliver the item for a cash bonus. For a limited time, you keep 100% of the Sell on Wish sale in addition to the delivery bonus from Wish!
Wish merchandise will also be a part of the Wish Local Delivery program. Ship to Store orders that were canceled and then resold, as well as Pickup Now inventory are eligible for delivery.
Label the package
When you opt in to Wish Local Delivery, you’ll receive a delivery label template. Print out the label and attach it to the package prior to delivery. Once labeled, you can then contact the recipient and let them know when to expect delivery. Contacting the recipient is not a requirement, but it’s a nice and helpful thing to do!
Deliver the package
When you sign up, you can choose the delivery radius you’re willing to serve. A package is considered delivered when it is left at a secure location. Snap a picture of the package with the label visible at the delivery location and upload it into the Wish Local app for proof of delivery. Deliver the package within the 48-hour window, and you’re done!
Collect your bonus!
Every successful delivery earns you a $4 cash bonus. You’ll be paid out every two weeks with your Wish Local payments. It’s that easy!

Your store page will have all the information customers need right in one place. You can showcase your store hours, store location, and contact information listed clearly at the top of your page. Shoppers can find which Pickup Now items your store currently has in stock. Best of all, your store’s own products that you upload with Sell on Wish will be neatly cataloged here. Locals in your area will be able to see everything your store has to offer, all in one place!

Consumer packaged goods (CPG) are products that shoppers frequently buy and replace like toiletries, cleaning supplies, and pet food. Often, when a customer needs a CPG, it’s unlikely they have time to wait for it to ship through the mail. Who wants to wait for a new toothbrush? When you upload your store’s CPGs to Wish, you remind shoppers in your area of those little household items they need to pick up on the way home.
Food and beverage
Selling ready-to-eat food on Wish may sound crazy; but it’s a real offering, and it works! When shoppers browse the Local Pickup section of their Wish app, they’ll catch a glimpse of your shop’s famous three cheese pizza or your perfect cup of coffee. If you catch that person on an empty stomach, they’ll be tempted to head over to grab that slice. That shopper may not have known your business was nearby!
How does it work? When a customer purchases hot or made-to-order food or drink, they’ll present proof of purchase when they arrive at your store. You can then prepare their order, giving them time to browse the rest of your offerings. This will ensure food stays hot and fresh, and may also increase sales when the customer sees something else they want to buy. Ball is life at Wish Local! On January 7, four lucky Wish Local partners and their plus ones were invited to attend a Los Angeles Lakers game. Together with members of the Wish Local team, store owners set up shop in front of the stadium to give away Lakers swag and spread the word about the shopping app taking the world by storm.
As an official sponsor of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Wish squad was proud to meet and greet the scores of Lakers fans on their home turf. In all, 300 Lakers jerseys and 200 fanny packs were gifted to fans who had downloaded the Wish app.
Once the promotional gifts were dispensed, the Wish Local partners joined Wish staff in a private suite to enjoy the Lakers vs. Knicks game, complete with an open bar and catering. When not enjoying the game, Wish Local partners shared tips, boasted about their successes, and provided valuable feedback. The store partners agreed that they have enjoyed more foot traffic since joining the partnership. One store owner went on to estimate that one in five Wish customers go on to buy items from his store’s own inventory.

All told, the promotional event was a huge hit, with at least 500 new Wish users acquired. The Wish Local partners enjoyed an exciting night on the town and got to network with their fellow Angeleno small business owners. The event was made that much sweeter with a Lakers 117-87 victory over their New York rivals.
